What to Pack for a Caribbean Vacation: Luggage

  • Packing cubes: Keep your luggage organized with packing cubes, making it easy to find what you need without the hassle of rummaging through your suitcase. I have been using the BAGAIL 8 Set Packing Cubes for years and they work perfectly and help me stay super organized. It is so easy to pack and unpack when I use these. If you need to make more space in your suitcase you can also purchase the BAGAIL Compression Packing Cubes.

  • Lightweight day backpack: Opt for a lightweight backpack that you can fold up and put into your suitcase. I bought the Venture Pal 35L Ultralight Foldable Daypack for my Switzerland trip and it has worked out perfectly, it is super lightweight and can be folded all up so it doesn’t take up any space. I have continued to use it for all my trips and also for hiking trips. They have a huge color variety to choose from.

What to Pack for a Caribbean Vacation: Personal Item and In-Flight Essentials

On all of my trips my personal item is my backpack. I have traveled all over the world with it and fits just about everything I need in it. Some of the things that I always carry with me are listed below. There are certain things that I pack together since I know I will need them during the flight and I like to be able to quickly take them out of my backpack so I can put the backpack overhead in order to have more space.

  • Refillable water bottle: Stay hydrated during your flight and be eco-friendly by bringing a refillable water bottle. I always take the Yeti Rambler 26oz Rambler bottle with me because it keeps my water cold for a long time.

  • Headphones: Block out the noise and immerse yourself in your favorite tunes or podcasts with a good pair of headphones. I usually carry both my wireless headphones as well as wired headphones that I can plug in to watch movies on the plane.

  • Chargers and Headphones holding case: Keep all your chargers and headphones organized in one place for easy access during your flight. I have been using the iMangoo Shockproof Carrying Case which is compact, so it doesn’t take a ton of space and it comes in a ton of colors. It has really helped me keep all my in-flight gadgets organized and in one case.

What to Pack for a Caribbean Vacation: Clothing

  • Swimwear and Coverups: Pack your favorite swimwear and cover-ups for effortless transitions from sunbathing to casual dining. My go to cover up these days is one that I bought a while back and it is still holding up and not only does it work well but it is also stylish. It is the Bsubseach Women Long Sleeve Beach Cover Up.

  • Light and breathable clothing: Maximize comfort under the Caribbean sun with lightweight and breathable clothing.

In the downloadable printable packing list you will find a specific list of how many tops, shorts, sundresses, and workout clothes to pack. You can access it below.

What to Pack for a Caribbean Vacation: Shoes

  • Flip flops: Embrace the laid-back vibe of the Caribbean with comfortable flip flops for beach days and casual strolls.

  • Sandals: Stylish sandals are essential for evenings out or exploring local markets.

  • Workout sneakers: If you plan on staying active, pack lightweight workout sneakers for fitness activities. I always bring my cross training On Cloud X3 Tennis Shoes

  • Walking sneakers: Comfortable walking shoes are a must for exploring the diverse landscapes of the Caribbean. I usually travel in the Cole Haan Grand Cross Court Traveler Sneaker and use during some of the days on my trip.

What to Pack for a Caribbean Vacation: Toiletries

  • Medication: Be prepared with essentials. Hand sanitizer or wipes Anti-mosquito repellent (e.g. Nobite, Autan, with ingredient DEET or similar) Painkillers (e.g. Ibuprofen, Aspirin) Diarrhea medicine (e.g. Imodium Akut, charcoal tablets) Wound cream (e.g. Bepanthen) Band-aid Tablets against seasickness/travel sickness (e.g. Superpep). I also always carry Liquid IV and Airborne with me to take during my trip.

  • Compact Pill Organizer: I have a very compact pill organizer which has saved me so much room. I have been using the Meacolia 8 Compartment Travel Pill Organizer to put all my daily pills into along with things such as Tylenol, Ibuprofen, and Tums. It is a game changer and so small and easy to travel with.

  • Sunscreen and Aloe Vera: Protect your skin from the sun's rays and soothe any sun-exposed areas with Aloe Vera. For sunscreen I bring body sunscreen and face sunscreen. I usually go with SunBum for the body and with a SunBum face stick. Supergoop also has a great sunscreen which are worth trying. If I need to bring reef friendly sunscreen then I will use the Reef Safe Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50.

  • Bug repellent: Keep pesky bugs at bay with a reliable bug repellent. I really don’t like the regular bug repellent so I use Murphy’s Naturals Lemon Eucalyptus Oil Insect Repellent Spray which I just used on my Costa Rica trip and work very well. Not a single mosquito came near me and they usually love me.

  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, deodorant, hairbrush, razor: Standard toiletries to keep you fresh during your tropical getaway.

  • Shower gel/Soap, shampoo/conditioner: Pack travel-sized toiletries for a hassle-free shower experience. I have color treated hair so I always bring my own shampoo and conditioner. The Olaplex Shampoo and the Olaplex Maintenance Conditioner are perfect sizes for traveling.

  • Under eye mask: I absolutely love the Fivewan under eye anti-aging mask treatment patches. These actually work very well to brigthen up the area and reduce puffiness. I actually also use them on other areas of my face and it has done wonders.

  • Nail care, face lotion, lip protection with UV protection, tweezers: Additional items for personal care and grooming.

  • Make-up: Keep all your travel make up organized in one bag for easy access.

What to Pack for a Caribbean Vacation: Gadgets

Travel Gadgets

  • Camera: Capture the breathtaking moments of your Caribbean adventure with a reliable camera. Right now, I am taking photos with my iphone 15 Pro but I am looking to invest in a camera that I can take better quality photos or possibly an Insta360 X3 which can also take video and is waterproof.

  • Travel Adapter and Voltage Converter: Stay connected and keep your gadgets charged with a suitable travel adapter. I recently bought a new one since I wanted something that would be more compact than what I already had and wanted to be easy to use and that I could continue using in all countries. I found the Key Power 230-Watt Adapter and Voltage Converter which I was super impressed with. It has 5 adapters and a power cord as well as 1 Type C PD 18W + 3USB. I was able to use this one item to charge everything that I needed to at the same time. I highly recommend getting this.

  • Portable Power Pack: Ensure your devices stay charged throughout the day with a portable power pack. I have been using the Anker Power Bank which I take everywhere with me.

  • Waterproof Bluetooth speaker: Enhance your Caribbean experience with a waterproof Bluetooth speaker, transforming any moment into a tropical celebration. I have been using the Anker Soundcore Bluetooth Speaker for years and it has been an excellent buy and I have not had any problems with it.

What to Pack for a Caribbean Vacation: Accessories

  • Sunhat and sunglasses: Stay cool and protected with a stylish sunhat and sunglasses.

  • Collapsible beach bag: Easily carry your beach essentials with a collapsible beach bag.

  • Waterproof phone protector: Capture memorable moments without worrying about sand or water damaging your phone.

  • Waterproof Dry Bag: If I know that I am going to be kayaking or standup paddle boarding I bring my Earth Pak Waterproof Dry Bag with me so that I can make sure I keep all my items dry during my kayaking or SUP trips.

What to Pack for Caribbean: Beach Day Must Haves

  • Snorkeling gear: If you plan on exploring underwater beauty bringing snorkeling gear is a must! I ended up buying the PRODIVE Premium Dry Top Snorkel Set. It is lightweight, has its own carrying case and doesn’t fog up when I am using it. Highly recommend this product as I did a ton of research to find a good set.

  • Waterproof phone case: Capture moments without worrying about sand or water.

What to Pack for a Caribbean Vacation: Things I didn’t bring but wish I would have!

  • Snorkeling Gear: on my last trip to the Caribbean I forgot to bring my snorkeling gear and even thought it can take up a bit of space it would have been worth it.

  • Water shoes: the water shoes are a good option to have if you are visiting any areas that may be rocky as it would be painful to go without and hard to just use flip flops.
